12 Days of Holiday Headaches
AT&T’s Technology Treatments
Day 1: Traveling Troubles – A survey by the US Travel Insurance Association found that 93 percent of holiday travelers believe travel-related problems increase during the peak holiday season. And even after making it through the snow and crowded airports, consumers face the challenge of navigating the streets. AT&T offers a number of wireless devices with AT&T Navigator GPS technology, including the Samsung Epix and Rugby, providing maps and directions to the next decked out destination.
Day 2: Distracted Drivers – As of November 2008, 31 states have passed laws affecting cell phone use while driving. And with icy weather conditions and crowded holiday roads, drivers have even more of a reason to opt for a hands-free device. A hands-free advice allows drivers to ask for directions to their friends’ holiday party in the middle of an ice storm - without taking their hands off the wheel.
Day 3: Mall Madness – You know the scene – endless bargain shoppers pushing their way through other savers for the best deal on the latest gadget or toy. A recent Lands’ End holiday survey found that 46 percent of gift givers would be trimming their holiday gift budgets this year. AT&T’s new USB Connect Mercury aircard runs on the 3G network and helps consumers save money, time and gas by shopping and comparing bargains online. And they can do it all in their festive pajamas.
Day 4: Gift Giving – Skip the frustration this year. From the iPhone 3G to great phone accessories, AT&T has options for all budgets in addition to gift cards for iPhone, iTunes and AT&T. That takes the guess work out of everything.
Day 5: Carols That Never End – We know. If you have to hear Rocking around the Christmas Tree one more time…With AT&T’s extensive line of music-enabled phones, including all new quick messaging devices and iPhone, consumers can download songs from Napster or iTunes and drown out those cheery holiday melodies. And with the LG Shine’s mirror finish, consumers can also practice their dance moves.
Day 6: Money Management – This year, more than any, consumers will be keeping closer tabs on their bank accounts. With the Mobile Banking application, AT&T gives customers access to multiple banks, accounts and financial services so they can manage their money from their mobiles phones—now including iPhone.
Day 7: Escaping the Office – For many, the holidays can be botched with that crisis at the office. Last year, a national survey by InterCall revealed that 74 percent of workers planned to work over the holidays, with 72 percent noting working remotely makes things easier. AT&T gives employees and business owners the flexibility and style to handle situations while away with the new Blackberry Bold, the first Blackberry device to work on AT&T’s 3G network.
Day 8: Annoying Family & Friends – Whether it’s an aunt or brother’s friend, chances are consumers will have to deal with people they’d rather not this holiday season. For the more than 1.8 billion texters of the world, AT&T’s new quick messaging phones, including 3G-enabled Samsung Matrix and Samsung Propel and the AT&T Quickfireare text-friendly and make sending texts, pictures and instant messages easy. Perfect for silently planning their escape
Day 9: Snowed In – Countless celebrations can be delayed or even impossible to attend thanks to Mother Nature. AT&T gives these stranded customers a chance to see and hear the festivities in real-time thanks to Video Share, industry first technology that lets customers share video as it happens while also talking on the phone.
Day 10: Parties & Outings – With all the merriment, how can consumers keep all their events straight? AT&T customers luckily have YELLOWPAGES.COM Mobile, with features that can create and share plans based on local events, location-based searches, and access to other consumer reviews.
Day 11: Pesky Pounds – We all have a weakness, be it sugar plums or Mom’s holiday dish. But last year’s report by the New England Journal of Medicine noted that the pound or two consumers add on in the holidays is rarely lost, taking many one step closer to filling out that Santa suit. But with AT&T’s new AllSport GPS™ application, users can track their exercise activity on select GPS-enabled AT&T wireless phones. Keeping users motivated into the New Year, AllSport GPS™ monitors time, speed, calories burned and distance traveled during outdoor workouts. Besides, it’s a lot easier to give a sleek AT&T phone with AllSport GPS™ then explain the treadmill to a loved one.
Day 12: Warm Fuzzies in the Cold Winter– Wait! Sometimes the holidays can present a good problem – like an endless list of charitable organizations to which consumers can give. Even in these times, a recent study by Austin, Texas software company, Convio, found that seven out of 10 Americans plan to give this holiday season. With AT&T Cares to Connect, customers can simply drop off used cell phones in our retail stores’ Cell Phones for Soldiers bin when getting a new phone, or purchase $1, $5 or $10 donation cards. Both options go towards purchasing 10,000 prepaid calling cards for troops overseas, bringing AT&T’s total calling card donation to 30,000 for 2008.
