Provident Bankshare Corporation, the parent of Provident Bank has acquired deposits at seven Giant Food store located in the Baltimore area. The deposits total 42 million dollars and include more than 8,000 consumer and commercial customers.  

 

Southwest Airline Co. is rolling out priority security lanes for Business Select and Rapid Reward A-List Customers.  The lanes are branded “Fly By” and were initiated to enhance the customer experience. The lanes will be available at a number of airports around the nation including Baltimore/Washington International Airport.  Customers who qualify to use the “fly by” security lane must have completed 16 roundtrips in a 12 month period. The “fly by” program begins in November 2008.

 

Bernaldo Dancel, Chairmen and CEO, of Ascend One Corporation, was named Innovator of the Year by the Daily Record. The company was recognized for its innovative virtual workplace because it allows so many of its employees to work from outside the office. Ascend One is headquartered in Columbia, but nearly 200 of the company’s team members take advantage of the virtual workplace. The company provides all the telecommunications and computer technology in each employee’s home. Dancel believes this concept benefits the customers since the employees can service them when and where they need it and in a more comfortable environment.

 

Bank of America Corp. has announced the executives who will lead its global banking, securities and wealth management division after it buys Merill Lynch & Co., Inc. Merill Lynch CEO John Thain will be president of the business and will be joined by eight others to lead the team.
