BBB | Greater Maryland presented two local businesses with its Torch Award for Marketplace Excellence on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at the American Visionary Art Museum. The two companies, Hague Quality Water of Maryland, Inc. and Empire Today were each recognized for their dedication and commitment to BBB's Standards for Trust in all aspects of their businesses.

Medifast topped Forbes magazine’s list of the 100 fastest-growing small public companies. Medifast achieved the number one spot for its $218 million in revenue and five-year sales and profit growth of 41 percent and 35 percent, respectively.

National Association of Women Business Owners named Monkya Berricosa, MyCity4Her, Inc. the 2010 Woman of the Year. This award recognizes Monkya for her dedication to business growth, employee development, owner and personal accomplishments, community involvement and advocacy for women in business.

Susan Katz, The Growth Coach Inc. earned National Association of Women Business Owners' 2010 Rising Star Award. This award recognizes Susan as an emerging entrepreneurial woman business owner who has been in business less than two years and is already demostrating strong growth and is expected to sustain long term success through sound business practices and a commitment to excellence.
