In the wake of the Haiti earthquake disaster, local businesses are contributing to the relief efforts.

 

  • $50,000 from McCormick & Co. Inc., plus an employee match up to $25,000.

 

  • Bank of America Corp.— is accepting donations at its more than 6,000 U.S. branches to support the American Red Cross’ Haitian Relief and Development Fund.

 

Constellation Energy plans to award grants of up to $5,000 to 501(c)3 organizations working on projects that fit into one or more targeted areas: pollution prevention; education and outreach; energy efficiency; conservation; and community activism. The Baltimore-based utility will accept applications until March 16, and it plans to announce grant winners April 22.

 

Local Business Shares Story at White House Event

 

Deborah Stallings, president of BBB Accredited Business, HR Anew, recently shared her story of success at a White House Event was profiled in Business Week and MBE Connections, a publication by the State of Maryland Governor's Office of Minority Affairs.

 

According to the MBE Connections article, "Stallings says HR ANEW stands out because they focus on client needs. We actually listen to what our customers are telling us is their greatest challenge that keeps them up at night,” says Stallings. “Our company is a full service human resources, management consultant and professional services firm, unlike similar firms that have expertise in one or two areas. I also try to hire the best available people and invest in their continuing education.” Life long learning is a core value for her business and herself.  She is currently completing an undergraduate degree in business at the College of Notre Dame.
