To help prepare BBB's volunteer leadership for the challenges and opportunities they will encounter in their new role, BBB hosted its annual Board Orientation and Retreat on Oct. 28 in Howard County. The new leadership staff is comprised of representatives from six Accredited Businesses and a local university. The new directors round out the 27 member Board.
With a diversity of intellectual, business and geographical backgrounds and a commitment to the standards that make BBB unique, there’s no doubt that this board will advance marketplace trust within the community.They have proposed an impressive agenda of initiatives that reflect their energy and passion for this organization and we are fortunate to have their support.
About the New Board Members:
Stephanie Bogan represents NFM, Inc., a national mortgage lender headquartered in Linthicum Heights, Md. As their general counsel and chief compliance officer, Bogan plans and guides the corporation’s legal and compliance affairs including mortgage lending, brokering operations, human resources, commercial transactions, organizational matters, risk management and special projects. Bogan conducts legal research and provides the senior management team legal advice regarding the corporation’s rights and duties. Prior to joining NFM, Inc., Bogan served as regulatory compliance officer for Capital One, analyzing internal policies and procedures; and as a regulatory compliance attorney for Lotstein Buckman, DC based law firm.
Lisa Corona, McCormick & Company’s vice president of human relations, consumer products division, has been with the company headquartered in Hunt Valley, Md. since 2007. She first joined McCormick as the vice president, human relations for their industrial group. Corona has been responsible for talent management, recruiting and staffing, compensation and benefits, communication, training and development, coaching and team planning, and employee relations. Each year, she participates with the company in strategic planning and goal setting processes. Corona belongs to McCormick’s Global Diversity and Inclusion Executive Steering Committee, Global Multiple Management Board and Americas Regional Multiple Management Board. Corona’s election marks McCormick’s 19th year on BBB’s Board of Directors. Corona previously ran the human resources department for JLG Industries, a $2.8 billion global access equipment company.
Michael D. Evans holds the position of Chief Underwriting Officer at Frederick Mutual Insurance Company located in Frederick, Maryland. Mr. Evans has been employed in various capacities in the property and casualty insurance field for more than 30 years. This insurance veteran has a background in administrative, compliance, marketing and business development. His current responsibilities include managing the Personal Lines and Commercial Lines Underwriting Unit as well as the Business Development or Marketing Team at Frederick Mutual. Prior to joining Frederick Mutual Insurance Company, Evans served as Vice President-Middle Markets-Financial Enterprises, Zurich North America Insurance, an insurance-based financial services provider with a global network of subsidiaries and offices. Evans previously led his local Homeowners Association as President for four years.
Jason Goldsmith is the chief executive officer of CARCHEX, an industry leader in providing extended auto warranties and mobile pre-purchase vehicle inspections. Since buying the company in 2003, Goldsmith has grown the business significantly, now with over 75 employees and 900 independent contractors nationwide. In 2010, Goldsmith negotiated a new endorsement relationship with NASCAR‘s popular driver, Dale Earnhardt Jr., to endorse and represent the CARCHEX brand. Before acquiring CARCHEX, Goldsmith founded several other businesses including GoldNet Marketing which eventually merged with e.magination as well as TheLoanPage.com, an online program generating leads for mortgage lenders. Smart CEO Magazine recognized Goldsmith this year for “Excellence in Young Entrepreneurship,” and he was included among the magazine’s Smart100 for the second year in a row. Also for the second year in a row CARHCEX ranked high on the annual Inc. 500/5000 list, an exclusive compilation of the nation’s fastest-growing private companies.
William Jameson is the senior sales director of Luna, a full shop-at-home floor covering company. Luna credits Jameson for hiring staff to jumpstart a new market in Baltimore and D.C. last year and outperforming their budget by 100 percent. Since then, he has created systems to keep his team aware of each other’s performances, in effort to drive individual performance and maximize sales opportunities. This year, Jameson’s team is positioned to exceed their sales goals by 50 percent. Jameson has invested in the growth of his staff through training, data analysis, system integration and delegation.
Dr. Shohreh A. Kaynama represents Towson University as the Dean, College of Business and Economics. She presides over 3,500 students and more than 100 employees. Additionally, Dr. Kaynama has been teaching undergraduate and graduate marketing courses at the university since 1984. She previously served as the Chair of the marketing department from 1998 to 2003. Dr. Kaynama led faculty, staff, business partners and students to the development of the College of Business and Economics’ strategic plan for academics years 2008-2013 and beyond. Their plan has served as a model for other parts of the academic division. Dr. Kaynama has several Board affiliations including, the Small Business Resource Center, Maryland Center on Economic Education, National Academy Foundation/Academy of Finance and Towson University Foundation Board.
Dave H. Wilson is president of Preston Automotive Group and has more than 33 years of industry experience. The automotive veteran successfully developed his own marketing strategies through experience gained over the years working with advertising executives. Wilson has been with the company since its inception in 1977. Starting with a single location in Preston, Maryland, the business has grown to include Preston Ford Lincoln, Preston Nissan, Preston Mazda, and Preston Hyundai, Denton Ford, Pittsville Ford and Carnet of Cambridge all located in Maryland. He also is the President of Millsboro Auto Mart located in Millsboro, DE. Wilson has served on the Board of Directors for Provident State Bank since 1989, Ford Credit Dealer Council since 2000 and the Hyundai Dealer Council since 2009. He works with several local charities and sports organizations.
