Education Hosts USNS Comfort Homecoming Event
After a seven week relief effort, the USNS Comfort returned home to Baltimore’s Canton pier. The humanitarian mission was to aid Haitian victims of the January earthquake.
After hours of anticipation, the ship, which had not seen the pier since January 16, was met by clamoring cheers and signs of adoration. The crew was welcomed home by appreciative family, friends, and neighboring residents. Those awaiting loved ones were accompanied by over 300 students from St. Ambrose and St. Casimir. The homecoming event was created and produced by BBB Accredited Business, Compass Points Education. Local businessman and franchise owner of Dunkin’ Donuts, Mr. Shah Islam, sponsored the event by providing snacks and refreshments, as families reunited with one another.
